Proposed Pump Track – Have Your Say!

Earlier this year, Hatfield Peverel Parish Council surveyed young people in the village to find out what additional recreational facilities they would like to see. Of the four options presented, 40% of respondents selected a Pump Track.

A Pump Track is a continuous circuit of bumps (rollers) and banked turns (berms), designed for riders to navigate using their body weight and momentum rather than pedalling or pushing.

Following this feedback, the Parish Council has been exploring possible locations for a Pump Track in the village.

Why are we considering alternative locations?

The original suggested location was the Community Park off Wickham Bishops Road. However, parents raised concerns about children accessing the park safely due to the busy road.

As a result, this location is no longer being considered.

Unfortunately, this also means that the Section 106 funding associated with the Community Park would not be available for a Pump Track elsewhere. The Council would therefore need to explore alternative funding opportunities, potentially through grants, donations, local business sponsorship or other sources.

Before investigating these funding options further, we would like residents' views on two alternative locations.

Proposed Locations

Option 1: Strutt Memorial Recreation Ground

The proposed location is an area adjacent to the Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA).

Option 2: Nounsley Park

Two possible positions for the Pump Track have been identified within Nounsley Park.

The accompanying plans show the park's current layout alongside the two proposed options. One of these would involve rotating the existing football pitch by 90 degrees. Click on the image below to expand the view.

Please review both options before completing the survey.

We Want Your Views!

Before taking this project any further, the Parish Council would like to understand residents' views on the suitability of these locations.

Please take a few moments to review the plans above and click the yellow button below to complete our short survey.

Your feedback will help inform the Council's consideration of the proposed locations.

What Happens Next?

The consultation closes on 23rd October and the responses will then be reviewed. The findings will be presented to the Parish Council for consideration and a decision on the next steps.

If a suitable location is identified, the Council can then explore potential funding opportunities.
